A year ago, Chartiers Valley was muddling through a frustrating season in which it finished 6-13-1, came in ninth place in the Class 1A Gold Division, and missed the playoffs.

Things are now a lot different for the Colts.

Chartiers Valley (11-0-0) is the only team in the top three classifications of the PIHL with an unblemished record. Quaker Valley (10-0-1) has not suffered a loss in regulation but dropped a 3-2 overtime decision at Indiana.

Not surprisingly, both Chartiers Valley and Quaker Valley are among the best defensive teams around. The Colts have allowed the fewest goals in the PIHL (15), and the Quakers are second with 16.
